What happened
The school district confirmed the October 15 shooting and canceled school activities on October 16. Its information hub provides family and community updates.
Why it matters
School emergency planning must address family communication, student accountability, reunification and sustained support after an incident.
Consider for your setting
SSEI suggests reviewing who authorizes emergency messages, how families receive verified reunification instructions, and how students are accounted for during relocation. These are planning considerations, not findings about failures at Silver Rail.
What remains uncertain
Developing incident. This draft makes no finding about motive, security failures or intervention effectiveness. Recheck official updates before publication.
